Modesto City Schools is funded to offer a variety of fully-subsidized (free) and partially-subsidized (sliding fee scale) Child Development Program options to over 1,200 students ages birth through 12. Programs are located at 17 elementary school campuses, 1 high school campus and 20 Family Child Care Homes.

Each program provides an outstanding educational experience for participating students, and reflects the belief that positive learning experiences can foster a young child's intellectual, social and emotional growth to prepare for and support school success.

Students take part in indoor and outdoor activities, and educational instruction focuses on school readiness and school success, based on the age of the student. Preschool students are introduced to the concepts of words and numbers, and are encouraged to express their feelings, develop self-confidence and get along with others. Each program option also provides parent involvement and parent education components as well as components on child health, nutrition, and social services.
