The Transportation Department safely transports approximately 8,000 students to and from school each day. In addition to 36 regular bus routes, drivers provide transportation for extra-curricular field trips, vocational education programs, summer school, and other special needs.
District drivers travel over three-quarters of a million miles each year and maintain exemplary safe-driving records.
To ride the school bus, students must live beyond the following distances from school:
GRADES K-6: 1 mile
GRADES 7-8: 2 miles
GRADES 9-12: 3 miles
New bus riders (primary-grade students) should be accompanied to and from the bus stop by an adult. It is the parent's responsibility to make sure the child knows his, or her, way to and from the school bus stop. Anyone with questions about bus routes can contact the Transportation Department.
